Marketing Communications Manager

The Marketing Manager role is an integral, strategic and creative member of the team. Your marketing and communications experience will provide value primarily through creating and executing marketing and communication plans and processes to help the business grow. Initially, we anticipate this role to be 50+% marketing/communications and up to 50% proposal development/execution. As our firm grows, we anticipate the percentage of time spent on marketing/communications will increase while much of the proposal execution tasks will be delegated to others. The Marketing Manager will work with our business development and administrative staff as needed to complete projects and meet deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manage and mentor existing marketing staff members (1 full time Proposal Coordinator, 1 part time support) 
  • Schedule and lead regular marketing meetings with company leaders
  • Manage the overall internal and external marketing/communications strategies for the firm 
  • Manage the proposal go/no-go process and work with company leaders to pursue projects including proposal development 
  • Work with our Proposal Coordinator to manage resources and develop processes to execute responses to RFPs/RFQs from start to finish 
  • Manage schedules, conduct meetings, facilitate the submission of information needed to execute marketing materials 
  • When needed, participate in the timely preparation and delivery of proposals/SOQs
  • Schedule and coordinate client debrief meetings 
  • Conduct competitor research
  • Maintain a strong, visible social media presence for the company 
  • Develop and maintain company brand standards and social media guidelines
  • Create high-quality marketing communications (email, social media, print, etc.) that effectively promote the firm 
  • Design (or oversee the design of) the firm’s marketing collateral including, but not limited to, templates for proposals/presentations, advertising materials, brochures, branded items, newsletters, trade show banners 
  • Oversee the design of all company branded items and apparel, as well as any trade show booth displays and/or promotional items 
  • Oversee the development and timely distribution of the company’s internal newsletter
  • Manage the collection of company, employee, and project related information to be used on the company website, proposals, and other marketing materials 
  • Continually improve marketing plan and materials to adapt to market changes and company needs 
  • Innovate new ways to deliver our company message 
  • Develop, manage and maintain our company brand across all platforms and materials 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in marketing, communications, or journalism OR five years marketing industry experience 
  • 3+ years of experience with an engineering, architectural, or construction company with similar job tasks 
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign) 
  • Proficient with Google Workspace applications and/or Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to proof English spelling and grammar 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple marketing efforts simultaneously, with attention to details
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and perform effectively under deadlines 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Basic WordPress skills for minor website updates 
  • Experience in using social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram as engagement and marketing tools on behalf of an organization
