Entry Level Civil Engineer | Staff Professional I

Duluth, GA | Rock Hill, SC | Charleston, SC

What You Will Do:

We have exciting opportunities for entry level engineers to join our team and develop their professional knowledge, work on technical deliverables, and become involved in professional organizations. While working under the direct supervision of a more senior level engineer, you will:

  • Learn the process of how engineering design works and become familiar with best practices on how to perform calculations and document your work
  • Develop a knowledge of the rules and regulations that apply to a variety of projects
  • Explore different types of projects and design challenges
  • Work with CAD and design software
  • Visit project sites during design and construction phases and actually see the projects we design getting built
  • Develop time management, organization, effective communication, and team building skills
  • Develop the skills needed to write reports and apply for permits from regulatory agencies
  • Understand the materials, means, and methods contractors commonly use to build the infrastructures we design
  • Learn how to identify tasks needed to complete an assignment
  • Develop an understanding of how we collaborate with each other and our clients to improve the communities in which we live and work

As your experience and capabilities develop, we have opportunities for you to grow your design skills, grow your ability to take on larger and more complex tasks, enhance your customer service and client interaction skills, build your communication skills, learn about the project life cycle (design, permitting, preparing construction documents, bidding, construction administration), and engage internally with the team to discuss strategic teaming and project pursuit initiatives.

Attributes You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Prior professional experience as a student intern is a plus, but not required
  • A desire to learn, to challenge yourself, and to work with a team to achieve a common goal
