Our Story
Since the founding in 1954, Keck + Wood has continued the traditions of engineering excellence and commitment to exemplary service established by our founders, Wylly Keck and Tom Wood.
Across the decades, the firm has grown from a small civil engineering firm into a regional infrastructure practice across Georgia, and the southeastern states through the development of value-added services for our clients. After all, local governments already trusted Keck + Wood to provide quality service and sensible solutions.
During the 1950s, the firm established a transportation practice serving communities like Gainesville, Cordele, Dublin and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Keck + Wood received its first Georgia DOT qualifications back in 1979. Today, we continue to enjoy successful collaborations with GDOT and many county and local transportation clients.
From the 1950s to 1990s, Keck + Wood contributed to the busy growth of Metro Atlanta through various projects, including the development of MARTA’s tunnel system and the regional airport network. To keep up with the region’s rapid population growth, Keck + Wood added expertise in water, stormwater, wastewater, and sewer systems.
All of our growth and expansion is a direct extension of being a trusted advisor to our clients. A foundational element in our history that is still the hallmark of our business today.
Our Mission + Vision
Our Mission is to positively impact communities by delivering creative solutions, providing exceptional service, and building lasting relationships. Collaboration is essential to the success of our projects and our people, and is what drives the vision of what we want Keck + Wood to be: Your Professionals of Choice.
Growing with Our Clients
With over 70 years of infrastructure experience, our services have certainly grown from that small firm of the 1950s. Along the way, Keck + Wood has earned an outstanding reputation for integrity, knowledge, and professionalism.
Today, we provide turnkey services in transportation, water and sewer resources, natural gas, landscape architecture, urban redevelopment, site design and land surveying for state and local governments, utility authorities, public institutions, and private developers.
Providing Solutions for Communities
We are committed to improving quality of life, throughout the region and within the communities we serve, with ethical conduct and dedicated client service. Working with more than 100 local governments in the Southeast, some for 70+ years, we understand how communities operate and how we can best serve the constituents of the region.
We care about improving the lives and experiences through the development of essential community infrastructure.

The Clients + Communities We Serve
As engineers, planners, surveyors, and professionals, we’re collaborative by design, offering practical, innovative solutions for essential community infrastructure. Our goal is simple: to improve the quality of life for residents throughout the region. We start with the impact on the communities we serve, some of which have been valued partners for years. These relationships reflect our relentless standards in ethics and engineering. They also shape our long-term understanding of how communities operate, and where we fit in.
We don’t just work for our communities, we participate and reinvest in them. Keck + Wood sponsors community events and charitable organizations, and our team members dedicate time to volunteering on a regular basis. Read more about our community involvement.
